It’s taken me a while to get around to doing this update. One, because it’s not exciting (spoiler alert, things went down a bit), and two, sh*t has well and truly hit the fan since the recent June 2022 Google updates.
Since starting this digital money-making adventure, there’s only one thing that comes to mind when I think of or hear about Google…
Anyways, things aren’t terrible for this project in May, there’s just nothing exciting to flex about.
*crickets*
If you’re not aware, here’s the tl;dr on the site specs:
- Cloudways Vultr hosting from the start
- Ezoic ads from the start
- GeneratePress Theme (basic setup)
- Aged Domain (22 years ripe)
Let’s keep it simple and jump into the analytics and earnings.
Google Analytics Traffic
Maybe I’m just getting a bit gloomy because as I write this up, I’m realizing there was actually a 5.21% growth in page views.
I’m assuming there’s been a bit of a plateau from the first batch of content being posted and ranking to the recent batch being posted.
I’m just really thankful this site is still showing so much potential, it’s making me feel more comfortable considering it a long-term authority-type site.
Let’s Talk Money
For May, month 10 of this website, the Ezoic earnings were $634.68
Last month’s earnings were $701.84. That’s an 11.84% decrease. This is likely due to potential recessions affecting marketing budgets and just a lower EPMV in general.
In fact, when I go into Ezoic Analytics, I see there is a 16.41% decrease in the EPMV.
oof…
I’m still posting content, it’s just below 200 posts at the moment. I’m going to be creating more of the content myself soon and likely pull back on the outsourcing costs.
Amazon Earnings
I realized I haven’t checked the Amazon earnings in forever for this site. Nothing exciting, as I think only one of two posts have an affiliate text link on them.
I’m not really interested in Amazon for this site and niche. Not that there isn’t potential, I just think there’s far better opportunities with direct affiliate opportunities and digital products/email lists.
So, What’s the Plan?
I’m moving down to monthly orders of 25k words from PassionPosts.
Other than that, I’ll try to stay motivated to keep growing. My other sites got hit pretty bad with this Google update, so I’m working towards minimizing costs and creating more of the content myself.
And, of course, I plan to keep killin’ the game.
