Case Study Update – Month 20 Project “s²”

Big news! It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve had something exciting to share for this website.

I am genuinely excited, this has been an intention of mine for a while. It’s kind of like the opposite of stopping a bad habit, I started something I should have started a while ago, so I guess the bad habit was procrastination.

Either way, I’m excited to share some of the early news and success. One of the cool things about this new YouTube channel is that it’s my “personal brand”. The channel name is my real name, and I’m putting everything I upload there into the Humix network to start earning some revenue from them prior to a YouTube partnership (now I’m just getting ahead of myself).

Also, it’s really nice having my face in the videos for my website, it feels way more personable and “real”.

Here’s the tl;dr on the site specs:

Google Analytics Traffic

This is kind of embarrassing, but something happened during my MotionInvest sales and I deleted my GA account. I think I was meaning to delete a particular website, but one day I went to sign in, and I couldn’t…

But then I remember Ezoic keeps track of that anyway, so I’ll post that graph here. I also got GA set back up and implemented the GA4, which feels uncomfortable, because it’s different, and I’m sick of things constantly changing. I should probably not do SEO then…

So no big changes in page views, but I’ve added a bunch of new content recently, so hopefully, it starts to pick up.

Let’s Talk Money

For March 2023, month 20 of this website, the Ezoic earnings were $108.40 (with a $5.27 EPMV)

Last month’s earnings were $116.30.

The EPMV continues to go down. A big part of this is the significant reductions I made to placeholders for ads on this site. I figured since things were trending down with ad rates I would lean into it and test out what it’s like to remove ads above the fold and a few other places.

This isn’t advised if revenue is your primary focus. But one of the things I’m starting to actually implement is an email list. I have a subscribe form in content and a pop-up to prompt people to join my mailing list.

I even got a few signups already:

However, I don’t have a lead magnet, but I’m working on one. It’s going to be a sort of digital “self-therapy” workbook that people can access when they sign up for the email list.

My intention is to focus on this more and more, as an email list is one of the few ways you can have complete control, in that you don’t have to rely on Google or other platforms for traffic because you have people already accessible on your list.

So, What’s the Plan?

Keep my head down and keep plugging away. Realistically, I’ll need several hundreds of thousands of monthly page views for this site to be a significant earner.

I think it’s possible, but not anytime soon. I also think the YouTube channel has potential, but that will take a long time I suspect.

But I’m excited because I feel passionate again. I care less about the end result and more about the process. I’m creating content I’m proud of, and I think it can genuinely offer value.

I’ll also be doing a couple case studies for Ezoic. One of them I mentioned in my recent video on NicheIQ, where I’ll be creating three blog posts from the NicheIQ keywords and tracking their progress.

The other will be on Humix, as I’m uploading all of my YouTube content onto it. So far, it’s around 35 videos. My plan is to try and create a decent video each week and chop up what I can of it into shorts, then upload all of that to Humix.
