Case Study Update – Month 17 Project “s²”

This one is going to be short and sweet for two reasons.

Reason number 1, the site has definitely lost some ranks, probably a mix of Google updates and old content needing some “TLC”.

And Reason number 2, I barely did any work related to my websites in the month of December and early January. Holidays aside, our little town, which is close to Buffalo, got hit really bad with a winter storm just before Christmas.

It was terrifying, but fortunately, we only lost power for 4 hours. We kept reading about other towns nearby going days without any, and situations like this are completely different with a young child.

I think I was also just generally burnt out leading up to that time of the year, and a little down with how everything website related has been going, well, down.

I also started working a more “full-time” job in my professional sphere, but it’s completely remote. So going into January, I’m feeling really good and content about life, and looking forward to getting back into building up this site.

But I’m pretty sure this is one of the worst months yet, not something I didn’t expect to be saying in Q4.

Here’s the tl;dr on the site specs:

Google Analytics Traffic

Definitely hurts to see all that red. One thing that helped boost my spirits was a recent live stream from Matt Giovanisci’s Youtube channel “Money Lab”, where he stated that you should go all in on one website, preferably something you do or are passionate about, and you should give yourself 4-years to “make it work” (i.e., replace your full-time income).

You can check out the video here.

It’s not necessarily my goal to replace my full-time income, but it would be nice to match it. The kind of work I do (psychotherapy) is something I see myself doing for as long as I want. I find it rewarding and fulfilling, and male therapists are always in demand. Since having a family, having a profession like that is something I don’t want to lose.

However, I’m always looking to make things easier and more comfortable for my family, and I really enjoy building a digital business, so I’m still interested and motivated to grow my income there.

Let’s Talk Money

For December, month 16 of this website, the Ezoic earnings were $345.18 (with a $8.96 EPMV)

Last month’s earnings were $442.80.

That’s all I want to say in this section…

So, What’s the Plan?

Get back to updating old content and creating some new content, especially video. Now that my home office is completely done and furnished, it’s time to start making some unique and engaging content. I’m excited to do so as well since this site is in the niche I work in, so it can help grow my “professional” brand, and also help people (hopefully).
