Case Study Update – Month 7 Project “s²”

Alright, my third “official” update for this case study, but we’re looking at February 2022 / Month 7 for the overall project.

For those that are new, here’s the tl;dr on the site specs:

  • Cloudways Vultr hosting from the start
  • Ezoic ads from the start
  • 100% outsourced content (I review/edit/publish)
  • GeneratePress Theme (basic setup)
  • Aged Domain (22 years ripe)

Why did I set it up like this? Since this is my fourth official “niche site”, I have some experience. That’s one of the exciting things about starting a new site, you bring everything you’ve done up to that point with you from the start. I knew I wanted speed from good hosting, monetization with ads, and that I wouldn’t have much time to write (this turned out to be very true as of late).

So, by setting it up right from the “get-go” I turn my entire focus to content.

How It’s Been Going

I’m very happy with the progress, and almost reached 30,000 PVs, I’m sure I’ll hit it next month with the full 31 days.

As you can see, it’s getting really close to averaging 1,000 page views a day.

Although I’m desperately trying to increase views with all my websites, considering this is month 7, it’s my biggest milestone of progress to date, so I need to remind myself of that.

One of the setbacks on the sites has been the content. I’m happy to say that the issue has been resolved today and I’m very happy with the service, but there were some major early delays with the order. I ordered around 150K words in August and start posting right away.

By the end of January, all 150K words have been finally published.

So, still many more to rank. But I have plans to continue investing in this site, as this early growth is getting me excited.

Now, what about the money? Like I said, monetized 99.99% with ads. I’m not against affiliates, but I want to be more strategic with any affiliate marketing on this site, so for now, I’m sticking with display ads with Ezoic.

For those of you that are unaware of “ctrl +”:

  • Total Earnings: $307.80
  • EPMV: $11.02
  • Avg Daily Earnings: $10.99

While the EPMV did grow, I’d like to see it at least double. This is in a niche that should get on the above-average side, so here’s to hoping.

The site has made a total of $619.19 since the start.

Upon reflection, this means Month 7 is already responsible for 50% of the income.

Hell ya dude.

So, What’s the Plan?

I’m going to continue posting content regularly and continue targeting low-competition keywords. If this site can get big, I could see myself getting more passionate about it.

And, of course, I plan to keep killin’ the game.
