Case Study Update – Month 6 Project “s²”

My second “official” update for this case study, but we’re looking at January 2022 / Month 6 for the overall project.

For those that are new, here’s the tl;dr on the site specs:

  • Cloudways Vultr hosting from the start
  • Ezoic ads from the start
  • GeneratePress Theme (basic setup)
  • Aged Domain (22 years ripe)

Nothing too exciting to report here. Posts are ranking, and some money is being made, so can’t complain. But I feel things are going to “pop” soon, and if they don’t, oh well…

Google Analytics Traffic

It’s funny how quickly desensitized you become to any progress made in this journey. The site had 24,000 page views. For me, that’s pretty high, for month 6, that’s very high. But it still doesn’t feel “wow”.

I do worry at times I’ll get stuck always reaching for more. However, it’s also nice to always have a goal to work towards and to feel like you are continually “crafting” and learning.

Show Me the Money!

Since I already have two sites on Ezoic, I put it on right away. For January, month 6 of this website, the Ezoic earnings were $142.52

Not bad. Considering most of the content is under 6 months, I’m feeling confident this will grow fairly quickly.

And it’s always nice to get some sort of confirmation that things are working. Publishing a lot of content on an empty site can be a bit nerve-wracking…

What if it doesn’t work? What if nothing gets indexed?

How Much Content?

Between August and September 2021 I ordered 150k words of content from PassionPosts.

There were some issues as they had recently be inundated with orders while updating their system/processes. But all of these words have now been published.

So, still a lot of new fresh content.

So, What’s the Plan?

I’m going to continue posting content regularly and continue targeting low-competition keywords. If this site can get big, I could see myself getting more passionate about it and focusing on building more of a brand.

And, of course, I plan to keep killin’ the game.

Check out the Month 7 s² Update.
